Topic DescriptionIn this session David van Enckevort will give an overview of the developments around eComStation from version 1.2 into the future. He will discuss the topics of National Language Support, Planned Features for the next release and opportunities for eComStation in the next years.

Speaker InfoDavid van Enckevort is currently employed at Mensys, where he is involved in the development of eComStation. For eComStation version 1.1 he has been the lead in the development of the new installer, which with improvements by others is still the basis of the eComStation Installation CD. Since he bought his first computer he has been active in several OS/2 related groups, and released a couple of programs (ASCII Table, Activity Monitor, xDel, etc.). He currently is board member of the editorial board of the Dutch OS/2 quarterly Draad/2.
Topic DescriptionIn November of 1995, Trevor Smith began the online publication of an electronic magazine for OS/2 users, OS/2 e-Zine!. After the demise of OS/2 Magazine, it became one of the most important sources of news, product reviews, release announcements and opinion for the OS/2 community as a whole. Staffed by volunteer editors, its writers were located throughout North America and Europe; its readership stretched around the planet, as proven by e-mail received from such far flung locations as South Africa and Thailand. While its volunteer staff of writers and editors were talented and devoted, there were often issues which suffered from a lack of content, were published late or both. Competition for talent and content with the VOICE Newsletter often exacerbated these problems. Currently, OS/2 e-Zine! is not in production, although its back issues are available. This raises the question, 'Does the OS/2 community need its own publication?' The purpose of this session is to discuss this issue and explore avenues to revive OS/2 e-Zine!.

Speaker InfoPete Grubbs has been an OS/2 user since he dumped Windows 3.1 and installed OS/2 2.1 over a decade ago. He began writing for OS/2 e-Zine! when it was under the direction of Trevor Smith and eventually became the publication's only Senior Editor. In that capacity, he created its vision statement, conducted interviews at many Warpstocks, wrote product reviews and editorials, edited copy and occasionally wore the Editor in Chief's hat.
