Course Description:
- Introduction: What is PostgreSQL, why you should use it, and how to
get it and install it. PostgreSQL and SQL92/99/03 spec compliance.
- Basic relational theory, and how to normalize your data.
- Basic SQL syntax, DDL (Data Description Language) and DML (Data
Manipulation Language) This will be a large portion of the class.
- Bulk loading data into the database.
- The query planner.
- Tuning the database engine for better performance.
- Scheduling backups.
- Q&A
- Also OS/2 REXX hooks back into PostgreSql may be discussed.
Requirements:
We recommend you download and install PostgreSQL for OS/2 and begin
to get familiar with it.
