WARPSTOCK 2004 REGISTRATION OPEN
April 23, 2004 - This year's Warpstock Event will span four days of
expanded classes and traditional presentations. You can register for a
single day or for all four days at significant savings. For the first
time, we're offering a bundled price that includes all four days of the
event along with both socials. All prices are discounted until August
15th. The discounted price is like getting the Socials for free and an
additional $3 off the daily price. This is a great savings! Please
register as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. Classes will be
on a first come, first served basis, with limited attendance. Not all
classes are included in the registration base price.
Registration for Attendees

HELP US TELL PEOPLE ABOUT WARPSTOCK 2004
May 5, 2004 - You probably know, by now, that the next Warpstock event --
an all-volunteer conference of OS/2 and eCS users -- is being held this
year in Denver, Colorado. Whether or not you can attend this year's event,
we'd like your help in spreading the word. One easy way for you to do so
is to put a link to the Warpstock site on your home page. Anyone who
includes a link to Warpstock will be eligible for inclusion on our
Warpstock Online Friends page -- maybe it'll bring a little business or
visibility your way.
You don't need to be a Web wizard to accomplish this. We'll give you the
little bit of HTML and one of our newly minted 2004 logos: choose one of
the three images (each in 2 sizes) from
http://www.warpstock.org/event_info/2004/logo_support.html
Once you have posted the link on your site, send an E-mail to Warpstock's
web master at [ robert-kuropkat@comcast.net ] He will add your Web site to
our Online Friends of Warpstock page.
And a big thanks for supporting Warpstock.
RECENTLY PLANNED SESSIONS
Note: Classes are half or full day sessions, while presentations and
demonstrations are generally 1.5 hour sessions.
Douglas G. Clark: 2 day class on "Building Applications with VisualAge C++
Visual Builder."
This class introduces programmers to C++ and the Visual Age IDE for
version 4. The student builds a working application using the Visual
Builder. In the process the student learns which controls are available,
how those controls relate to the IBM Open Class User Interface Library,
types of connections between parts and when to use each connection type.
The students also learns how to build their own non-visual parts and use
them in the application. Differences between version 3 and version 4 of
the Visual Builder are pointed out.
Jan van Wijk: 1/2 day class on "Disk partitioning, LVM and filesystems
used with OS2 and eComStation."
This class will explain partition-tables, LVM-information structures,
bootmanager as well as several of the popular filesystems used with OS/2
and eComStation. It will concentrate on the way these are stored on the
disk, and not so much on how they are used from and with the operating
system by driver-software. Some of the structures will be shown and
perhaps manipulated using DFSee.
Jan van Wijk: "Using DFSee on OS2 or eCS, demonstration and Q&A."
This presentation focuses on using the DFSee utility from the OS/2 or
eCS operating system, demonstrating as many of the functions as time
permits. Expect items like partitioning, imaging and cloning and some
data-recovery. There will also be some time to answer any questions you
might have on DFSee. Also see
http://www.dfsee.com/present/index.htm
Paul Curtis: 1/2 day class on "C/REXX partnership: calling Rexx from C and
calling C from REXX."
This Class will give the details of interfacing to Rexx and C. Some of
those details include: making your own DLL available to be called by any
REXX script, getting read/write access to variables on both the C side and
REXX side including stem variables from the memory pool, Getting access
to the command line exactly how it was entered instead of how C startup
parses it with argc and argv which is many times undesirable. Also some
tradeoffs with C versus Classic REXX and ObjectREXX will be noted as well
as tools to build/compile.
Paul Curtis: "CSSDir Demonstration, a powerful directory sifting/sorting
tool."
In this presentation, you will be shown how to use CSSDir to sort by EA
size, size, name, etc over multiple directories, and/or drives which could
include millions of files, easily and quickly with CSSDIR, limit files
found by dates, include files that are of a given size, exclude files and
directories. Change the layout of file details for views you want instead
of what standard dir limits you too, limit sub directories searches to a
given depth, not all or nothing as regular dir does, find duplicate files
on your system, produce multiple reports sorted differently in one pass
and invocation, (time permitting) how to snap-shot your system to detect
systems changes with CSSDIR. Also see

EXHIBITOR TABLES AVAILABLE
Do you want to reach hundreds of OS/2 users and technology buyers?
Warpstock is the place to get your message across. Our exhibit area will
be filled with attendees looking for information about your product or
service. Exhibition table costs for the four day conference are some of

around to see what you have to offer.

in donating product for our end of the show give-away. Please contact our
exhibit coordinator
exhibit@warpstock.org
to discuss this great opportunity for shareware developers.
Warpstock is by and for OS/2 users, and it is our belief that user groups
are an important support for all of us. As in the past we encourage OS/2
user groups to come to Warpstock and promote your organization for minimal
cost. So please take advantage of this great opportunity if you can.

WARPSTOCK 2004 NIGHTLIFE
People come to Warpstock for the education and training, but they always
enjoy the opportunity to get together with other users. The Denver team
is planning two different after hours get togethers including a Saturday
Night Social Event at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
http://www.dmns.org/
There's a schedule posted on the Web site and at
the store for this fantastic evening which includes private tours of two
of the exhibit halls, an IMAX movie, a complete dinner, and transportation
to-and-from the museum.
There is a STRICT time limit on purchasing tickets to this event, so be
sure to do so soon, so you don't miss a great dinner and a unique night of
private exploration at a world class museum.
On Friday night, the social outing will be a night on the town. We'll
have charter busses so that you can safely sample the night life. On
Thursday and Sunday, ad-hoc groups will go to some of the local
restaurants and cafes that are in walking distance from the hotel.
The Friday night event will be $10 to cover transportation. Saturday's
event will be $60 before August 15 or $70 after that date. Significant
others and children 13 and over can attend for $30 each and children under
13 get in for one dollar! Also, you can save $20 or more by purchasing the
combined four-day conference pass with socials.
You can get information on how to purchase these social events via the
Warpstock online store at:
