Jan van Wijk is a software engineer with many years of system programing experience,
mainly in 'C'. He also has a lot of experience in automated system rollout in large
organizations. DFSee started as a little tool to fill in some gaps for OS/2 system
rollout, and has grown into a generic disk utility over the years. He founded Fsys
Software a few years back to continue development of DFSee and similar products
and offer consultancy on data recovery and system rollout.

OS/2 Kit for Acrobat Reader
Adobe's PDF documents are the de-facto standard for electronic documents
and every business is using PDF. We deliver Acrobat Reader 4.05 on OS/2 which allows
customers to view and print current documents. The old Acrobat Reader 3.0 for OS/2
is not able to view most of the current documents. We are able to also support more
recent versions of Acrobat Reader (such as 6.0) but we chose to not deliver this
until we have customer demand as very few documents are incompatible with 4.05 and
the more recent versions have much higher hardware requirements. Note that our Acrobat
Reader is orders of magnitudes faster than the Acrobat Reader 3.0 for OS/2 and we
provide full support for IBM Web Browser without the many problems and restrictions
of the old viewer.
-
InnoTek Font Engine for OS/2
A common complaint from customers about web browsing on OS/2 has been
the incredibly poor font rendering quality, i.e. legibility. We have implemented
a modern font engine for OS/2 making use of advanced techniques such as anti-aliasing
("smoothing") and overcoming the typical restrictions of the OS/2 default
font engine (distortion, jiggling characters, missing Unicode support, etc.). InnoTek's
Font Engine for OS/2 currently is an add-on for IBM Web Browser for OS/2. Customer
feedback has been incredibly positive so far and it is a big gain in use friendliness,
esp. when working a lot with web browsers.

OS/2 Kit for Java
InnoTek has signed a license contract with Sun Microsystems to create
a product allowing customers to deploy the latest Java 1.4.2 technology on OS/2.
It has been designed as a cost-effective, fully compliant solution delivering the
most widely used Java environment on OS/2. It also includes full support for the
Java Plug-in with IBM Web Browser for OS/2 and Mozilla. Performance has shown to
exceed IBM Java 1.3.1 and competing 1.4.x ports to OS/2 significantly and for most
operations is identical or very close to the Windows platform. We are able to maintain
this product with very little efforts (i.e. deliver current Java technology) and
we can guarantee identical behavior between the OS/2 Kit and Sun Java for Windows
and also implement OS/2 specific fixes/changes. According to customer feedback,
our Java implementation for OS/2 is extremely functional, solid, resource effective
and tuned. We can keep it on the latest Java level and provide full support for
it at fractions of the cost for what it would take IBM or another vendor to support
a JVM on OS/2.
-
GCC for OS/2 (C/C++ Compiler Suite)
We are officially maintaining the OS/2 version of the GNU C/C++ compiler
suite. The reason for this is that IBM has withdrawn all C/C++ compiler environments
for OS/2 and the last versions are very much outdated by now and there is no support
available. InnoTek does require current C/C++ technology on OS/2 for some time and
there are other companies requiring this, too. The best example might be IBM Web
Browser for OS/2 which is going to use the GCC compiler in the future as well. We
are delivering a fully supported environment that can replace IBM VisualAge C++.
We have also done special work to remove the requirement for any GPL licensed subcomponents.
We plan to keep this compiler current for some years and offer defect support for
3rd parties.
